Blessed Anne of St. Bartholomew describes her experiences as Prioress in Paris in the year 1605. She tells us that four professed religious and two novices left Paris to found a new Discalced Carmelite monastery in Amiens on Pentecost. There was a Pontifical Mass and the Bishop had the head of St. John the Baptist carried in procession!
Here is a small bird cast as John the Baptist who from my treetops is inspired to say: I come from heaven to prepare the way.
This is what the birth of John the Baptist announces: just as from the womb of Elizabeth a creature is born, the Lord can bring forth life from a story of darkness and death.
Isn't all this talk of repentance and sins meant for Lent?
