Quote of the day, 20 September: Hermann Cohen

The Servant of God Herman Cohen was the first to lead a pilgrimage to Lourdes on 20 September 1858. Hundreds of people joined him in front of the grotto, although it was still blocked off by barricades and the civil authorities forbade close access to the site. He made quite an impression on St. Bernadette.

Quote of the day, 11 February: Saint Zélie Martin

Saint Zélie Martin learns that her breast cancer has reached such an advanced stage that it is inoperable. She writes to her husband, "I'll go to Lourdes on the first pilgrimage, and I hope the Blessed Mother will cure me, if it's necessary. In the meantime let's stop worrying."
