Quote of the day, 19 June: Hermann Cohen

In his canticles "For the Love of Jesus Christ", which were published in 1851, the Servant of God Hermann Cohen wrote a summary of his vocation in the dedication pages of the book, closing with a hymn of praise to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament: "Throw yourselves at His Feet; give Him your heart, and He will bless you."

St. Edith Stein departed from Cologne bound for Echt, Holland on the night of 31 December 1938. In a farewell poem, she wrote: "In the heart of Jesus, which was pierced, The kingdom of heaven and the land of earth are bound together. Here is for us the source of life."
