Quote of the day, 14 March: Silvio José Báez, ocd

Recognizing our human frailty isn’t humiliating. Only when we recognize it are we truly human; only when we welcome it do we open ourselves to faith in God, who loves us infinitely.

Knowing that we are so small and vulnerable and our efforts are so limited, isn’t it fascinating, this promise of Jesus—the gift of living water, which he offers us today? We are great only when we are rooted in God; we are strong only when we are sustained by his love.

The living water that Jesus offers us wells up in our hearts on the day of our baptism, transforming and filling us with his grace, which imparts his forgiveness day by day, and gives us the capacity to love as God loves us.

Silvio José Báez, o.c.d.

Auxiliary Bishop of Managua
Homily, 15 March 2020 (Excerpt)
