Life is so short! What happiness it is to think of that, to tell ourselves that tomorrow we shall be in Heaven, near Jesus Who loved us enough to die for us, near Mary who loved us enough to consent to be deprived of her Jesus for many long years, so as to show us by her example how to appreciate and sanctify our life of solitude, nothingness, and exile of heart.

Featured image: Our stained glass image of the Blessed Virgin comes from the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Marceille in Limoux, France, which is located in the Diocese of Carcassonne and Narbonne between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenées mountains. Construction of the basilica began in the 14th century. The church is best known for the miraculous Black Virgin statue dating from the 11th century, which was decapitated in 2007 by robbers who took the head and the decorative mantle that covered the statue. Thankfully, the infant Jesus in the Virgin’s arms remained intact. Wikimedia Commons has several images of the stained glass windows in the basilica.
