Quote of the day, 4 February: Blessed Marie-Eugène of the Child Jesus

Let theologians learn from [Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity] to make use of the truths of dogma in order to be recollected in God: they will thus help her to fulfill her mission, which is to attract souls to recollection; and they will then win for her the glory that she longed for, the glory of the praise of God.

  1. I remarked on this concept recently. I love contemplation being rooted in dogma, or I dare say it could wander off into self serving emotional indulgence. As St Teresa Benedicta said, “Do not accept anything as love which Iacks truth, and do not accept anything as truth which lacks love”. So that’s 3 Saints, so it must be a general feature of Carmel, and I like it.
