“There is no member of the Church who does not owe something to Carmel” #ThomasMerton

Thomas Merton was a monk of the Abbey of Gethsemani (in religion, Father Louis, O.C.S.O.); he was born 31 January 1915 and died 10 December 1968. A Catholic convert, he maintained a lively interest in and love for Carmel throughout his religious life. There are numerous Carmelite references in his collected works. The Carmelites and the Thomas Merton Society have explored this relationship.
On 20 December 2021, the Discalced Carmelite Friars in the United Kingdom will present an online, live presentation from Dr. Susan Muto, Ph.D. and Lori McMahon on the teachings of Thomas Merton and the Fruits of Contemplation. Registration includes two hours of live presentation and a month’s access after the live presentation of the recorded video. This is the last installment from the friars’ Voices from the Great Tradition Series.
