“All of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on” (Mk 12:44). What concrete results can the widow’s two small coins produce? No result, no impact on the beautiful stones and the grand buildings of the temple; they will be of little use in maintaining the splendor of the priestly liturgy. But that woman put a lot of heart and life into circulation in the veins of the world through her gesture.

«Los demás han echado lo que les sobra», pero ella que pasa necesidad, «ha echado todo lo que tiene para vivir» (Mc 12,44). ¿Qué resultados concretos pueden producir las dos moneditas de la viuda? Ningún resultado, ningún efecto para las piedras hermosas y las grandes construcciones del templo, servirán de poco para mantener el esplendor de la liturgia sacerdotal. Pero esa mujer con su gesto puso en circulación en las venas del mundo mucho corazón y mucha vida.
