When Jesus looks at us, he always looks at us with love. St. John of the Cross reminds us that “when God looks, he loves” (The Spiritual Canticle, 19:6). Letting ourselves be conquered by the loving gaze of Jesus is the beginning of a new and eternal life. Only by humbly welcoming the love of the Lord can we set out on paths that lead us to an existence free from the seduction of idols and the blindness of our illusions.

Homily, 28th Sunday of Ordinary Time (excerpt)
10 October 2021
Well, that’s telling us! 5am, Gospel hymns in my ears, online, and this good Bishop reminds me that it is ALL about the Love of Jesus, without which, there are only the reptiles… Every word he says is pure gold.
