St. Thérèse of Lisieux Novena 2021, Day 4: Transforming love

SCRIPTURE READING
1 Corinthians 1:26–29

God chose what is weak in the world

Consider your own call, brothers and sisters: not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, things that are not, to reduce to nothing things that are, so that no one might boast in the presence of God.

Letter 197

Consuming and transforming love

O my dear Sister, I beg you, understand your little girl, understand that to love Jesus, to be his victim of love, the weaker we are, without desires, without virtues, the more suitable we are for the workings of this consuming and transforming Love…

PRAYER

St. Therese of the Child Jesus,
remember your promise to do good on earth;
send your shower of roses in abundance
on those who call upon you,
and obtain for us from God the graces
we are waiting to receive from His infinite goodness.

mention your intentions here

God our Father,
you have promised your kingdom
to those who are willing to become like little children.
Help us to follow the way of Saint Thérèse with confidence
so that by her prayers
we may come to know your eternal glory.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
God, forever and ever. Amen.
