Quote of the day, 25 August: St. Mary of Jesus Crucified

Blessed earth, the moonlight was enough for you;
you will bear fruits for love.
The Lord foretold to me that
the mountain that possesses you will be blessed.
Farewell ball of earth, I can’t take it anymore…
The Lord lent me his hand to walk forward;
my bones can’t take it anymore;
the wind of time weakens me…
Mary is calling me, Mary is calling me to my Homeland;
this is the day that awaits me.
My strength has been beaten down like the winds of time;
my bones have grown moldy while waiting for the Lord…
I cannot stand this life any longer,
I cannot stand this life any longer;
my weakened soul cannot stand it any longer!…
O God of love, cast a gaze upon your dust…
My soul is languishing,
it cannot stand it any longer here below!…
The birds of the heavens call me from afar.
The mountain is very close to me…
When the day comes I will say to the star:
The ground that is prepared for me, the tomb is ready…
Take the staff and follow me…
The bones of my bones have been moldy;
they have come back to life and
have become white beneath your glance…
The Lord blessed you, my soul trembled…
Farewell blessed earth; it is to you that I owe my life!…

    1. It’s a pleasure to be of service. There are pages and pages of these ‘canticles’ and prayers in the notebooks, and I am so incredibly grateful to the nuns for entrusting the text to me. The same goes for the as-yet published manuscript of the new biography of Mariam, translated from the Italian by Father Zampini from Italy’s Catholic cable channel TV2000. I was given permission to publish ‘sizzler’ excerpts until a publisher is found. We need to bring more of the wisdom of our saints to English-language readers, don’t you think?
