Quote of the day, 2 August: St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Now I dream of sharing with you “the hidden manna” (Revelation) that the Almighty has promised to give “to him that overcometh“. It is only because it is hidden that this heavenly manna attracts you less than “the onions of Egypt“, but I am sure that as soon as I am permitted to present you with a completely spiritual food, you will no longer regret the one I would have given you if I had remained on earth for a long time.

Ah! your soul is too great to be attached to any consolation here below. It is in heaven that you must live in anticipation, for it is said: “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Your only treasure, isn’t it Jesus? Since He is in Heaven, that is where your heart must dwell, I tell you quite simply, my dear little brother, it seems to me that it will be easier for you to live with Jesus when I am near Him forever.

Saint Thérèse of Lisieux
