My soul is still in the cellar but it is happy there, yes happy to have no consolation because I find then that her love is unlike the love of the world’s brides who always look at the hands of their Bridegroom to see if he is bringing them some presents, or at His face to surprise them with a loving smile that delights them…
But the poor little bride of Jesus feels that she loves Jesus for Him alone, and she only wants to look at the face of her Beloved to surprise the tears that flow from her eyes which have delighted Him with their hidden charms!… She wants to wipe them away, these tears, to make them her finery on her wedding day, a finery that also will be hidden but will be understood by the Beloved.
