The house of Bethany was the delight of Jesus when He was on earth; it was His favorite dwelling. There He was intimately known by Lazarus, served by Martha, and madly loved by Mary. The Carmelite, being close to Jesus, reproduces that intimate life. She learns to love Jesus and serve Him according to His will. She is His refuge in the midst of the world. She, with His chosen ones, is His favorite dwelling place.Saint Teresa of the Andes
