That Letter From Elijah

Here comes trouble. We usually say it with a smile, goofing on a friend who just showed up.

But King Ahab of Israel didn’t mean it that way when he encountered Elijah,

When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Is it you, you troubler of Israel?” (I Kings 18:17, English Standard Version)

If you’re a guy or gal of God like Elijah, you will be trouble for plenty of people. You will be perfume to those who belong to God and you will stink to everybody else,

For we are the aroma of Christ for God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to the latter an odor of death that leads to death, to the former an odor of life that leads to life. Who is qualified for this? (2 Corinthians 2:15-16, New American Bible)

You don’t have to do something wrong…
